If you hate it so much, then just leave.

I'm really sick of hearing people say they hate America. I remember a few months ago, I overheard one of my roommates on the phone saying how he "hates this country so much" and stuff. Well if you hate it so much, just leave. (And personally, I'd be quite thankful if you did.) You're not trapped here like you would be in other countries. You're free to go wherever you like.

Good luck finding somewhere else you like that much, though.

As much as I want to end up back in Hong Kong, which I still consider my second home, I still love this country. It's my home, it's where I was born and raised, and all of the positives of living in the US certainly outweigh the negatives. So if you hate it so much, then go. Don't let the proverbial door hit you on the way out.

  1. I think it's healthy to have a small dose of disdain for where you live so you can look at it objectively sometimes. Like, I can completely understand why we have a bad rep in some countries. But I love this country too, and you bring up a good point...it's a hell of a lot easier to leave this one if you're that unhappy!

  2. Well yeah, it is healthy to have some disdain, keeps you from just accepting everything the government throws you at face value. But it's just the people who constantly say things about how America sucks and so forth and so on, completely ignoring all of the freedoms we have here, freedoms we wouldn't have in so many other countries. Like the freedom to openly express your disdain for your country.
